How Getting Covered Works With Us
Nearly every application goes through four stages. This is what each looks like from your side.
- 1
A first conversation
You call, and we talk about who depends on your income, what you owe and what the policy needs to do. It's about a coffee break's worth of time, and you don't have to decide anything.
- 2
Options laid side by side
We present two or three policy options, each with its coverage amount, length and premium. The trade-offs are clear before you choose.
- 3
Paperwork and the insurer's review
Together we work through the application one question at a time and book any exam the carrier asks for. During the insurer's review, we keep you updated and take care of whatever follow-up requests come in.
- 4
Policy delivery and review
Once approved, we go through the policy page by page, check your beneficiaries and make sure you know where to store it. After that, we remain your contact.

Life Insurance and Retirement Planning We Handle
Most people need one of a few things: coverage for a set number of years, coverage that lasts for life, or a plan for turning savings into income. Term life insurance and mortgage protection insurance cover the years when others depend on your paycheck. Whole life, universal life and final expense insurance are permanent policies with different trade-offs in cost and flexibility. Retirement income planning looks at how your money pays the bills once the paychecks stop.

Term Life Insurance
Level-premium coverage for 10, 20 or 30 years, sized around your loans, income and kids, with one agent handling it from quote to policy.

Mortgage Protection
Life coverage built around your loan balance and term, paid to the people you name so the mortgage can still get paid.
Retirement Income Planning
We fit your savings, Social Security, pension and policy cash value into one monthly income plan, with the same agent handling it from start to finish.
Whole Life Insurance
Lifelong coverage with a fixed premium and growing cash value, explained plainly and handled by the same agent from first call to delivered policy.
Universal Life Insurance
Permanent coverage with adjustable premiums and cash value, funded to last to the age you need and checked with you every year.
Final Expense Insurance
A small whole life policy that pays your beneficiary when you pass, so funeral costs and last bills don't land on your family.

A Small Pleasanton Team, On Purpose
We kept our team small so the people who start your file are the ones who finish it. That matters in life insurance, where an application can take weeks and one missed detail on a health question can change your rate.
We work with families, business owners and people getting close to retirement in and around Pleasanton. Some come to us for a first term policy. Others want a second opinion on coverage they bought years ago and no longer understand.
Our approach is simple. Listen first, explain plainly, quote by phone and keep the same faces on your file after the policy is in your hands.
What Sets the Price of a Policy
Premiums don't come off a posted rate card. The insurer weighs how likely it is to pay a claim and when. These are the things that shift the price most.
We quote by phone once we've talked through your age, health and goals. The insurer sets the final price after underwriting, and if it differs from our quote, we tell you right away.
- Your age when you apply
- Your age when the policy begins sets the premium. A term policy started at 35 usually costs much less each year than one started at 50, and the rate stays fixed for the term.
- Health and medical history
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, past illnesses and current prescriptions all factor in. Insurers place applicants in rating classes, and your class has a large effect on price.
- Cigarettes, vapes and chew
- Regular nicotine use of any kind pushes the rate up sharply. Most carriers want a year or more without nicotine before pricing you as a non-user.
- How much coverage you choose
- A bigger death benefit costs more, but not always in proportion. Some insurers give larger policies a better price per thousand dollars of coverage.
- Term or permanent
- Term life lasts a set number of years and starts with the lowest premium. Whole life and universal life last your whole life and build cash value along the way, which is why they can cost several times more for the same amount.
- Riders you add
- Add-ons such as a waiver of premium, an accelerated benefit or a child rider raise the cost. We recommend only those that answer a real need.
Why Clients Stay With a Small Team
Big agencies pass your file from a sales rep to an application desk to a service line. We don't. The person who hears your story is the person who sees it through.
- 01
You repeat your story once
Your health history, your budget and who you want to protect get written down on the first call. Nobody asks you for it again three weeks later.
- 02
We size coverage before we quote
We start with what your family would actually need: income replacement, debts, a mortgage balance, school costs. Then we look at policies. That order keeps you from buying more than you need, or less.
- 03
Underwriting questions come to us first
Insurers often ask for doctor records, a paramedical exam or a follow-up interview. We tell you what's coming, why they want it and how long it usually takes, so a request for records doesn't feel like bad news.
- 04
We explain the policy before you sign
Riders, conversion rights, grace periods and beneficiary lines get walked through in plain words. If a clause doesn't fit your situation, we say so.
- 05
We check back after the policy is issued
Marriage, a new child, a paid-off mortgage or a new business can change what you need. We call to review your coverage and beneficiaries when life shifts.
Questions We Hear Most
Something not covered here? (925) 966-3491
How much life insurance do I actually need?
That comes down to what the money must pay for. We total things like years of lost income, the mortgage balance, other debts, childcare and school, then take away savings and work coverage. The result reflects your life rather than a standard multiple of your pay.
Is a term policy or a permanent policy the better fit for me?
If you're raising kids or paying a mortgage, term life usually buys the most coverage per dollar. Whole life fits when you want coverage that never runs out, for estate planning, a dependent who needs lifelong support, or final costs. We'll say which one suits you, even if it's the less expensive policy.
Do I have to take a medical exam?
Not in every case. Plenty of policies call for a brief paramedical exam with blood work and measurements, often done at your job or another convenient place. Others, including many final expense plans, rely on health questions alone. Going without an exam generally means a higher premium or a smaller maximum.
Isn't the life insurance through my job enough?
Employer coverage is often one or two years of salary, which seldom covers a mortgage plus years of income. It also tends to stop when you change jobs. A policy you own goes wherever you work.
How long does it take to get a policy?
A simple application can be approved within days. Fully underwritten policies often need several weeks, depending on how fast medical records come in. We keep you posted the whole way.
Who can I name to receive the money, and can that change?
A spouse, children, a trust or almost anyone can be named, and the benefit can be divided among several people. Updating it later usually means one form to the insurer. We ask clients to revisit it after a marriage, divorce, birth or death, since an outdated beneficiary is one of the problems we run into most.
Will I deal with someone different after I buy?
No. The people who helped you apply stay with your file. Questions about a premium notice, a claim or a coverage change go to someone who already knows you.
